Swinton offers PPI refund to 350,000 shoppers.
Additionally, the FSA asserted the broker hadn't made it clear that PPI was optional and didn't correctly divulge the price tag at the point of sale. The price tag was bundled in with the primary insurance quote and Swinton did not divulge that though customers were paying £15 or £20 for their policies, the cover only cost £1.21 with the remainder being taken by the broker as a fee. Too few folks are probably going to claim back £15 or £20, which would suggest Swinton is getting let off gently, particularly given the fine imposed by the FSA is simply a tenth of the income it generated from PPI sales. Since that point the "hole in the wall" has turned into a fixture.
