Residents will get kickbacks on flood insurance.

The repayments took effect Oct one for the parish's virtually twenty thousand policy owners.

Other customers will get a five % discount. Repayments are primarily based on a community rating scale of one to ten, with one being the best and getting a forty five p.c discount. This year, Terrebonne improved its rating from eight to seven.

Steps residents have taken to raise their houses have also helped, McDonald asserted. A large amount of places are not doing as much as we are," McDonald asserted. "The more structures we take out of harm's way, the better.". The goal is to finally improve the parish's rating to a six, which would give many residents a twenty p.c savings on flood-insurance costs. "Any way you cut it, this is a good deal," McDonald expounded.
