New TN Building Code Aims to Save Energy.

The statewide code was a referral from a task-force delegated by Gov Phil Bredesen and is a component of his plan to inspire conservation and green energy in the state. Though the state has some of the least expensive energy in the country, Tennessee homes pay about $100 a month more in electrical bills than the residents of 35 other states, according to info assembled by the US executive. "It may cost a little on the front end, but it may be re-paying for years," claimed Alex Tapia, a Tennessee-based program boss for the Southeast Energy Potency coalition. Bob Pitts, Tennessee senior policy confidant for Associated Builders and Contractors, asserted the code should not really affect commercial construction, almost all of which happens in areas that already have building codes.
